MNEMONIC (MEMORY) TECHNIQUES
I always had a naturally good memory, which helped me do well in school. But it wasn't until I was a teen that I began to really study mnemonic techniques, specific ways to improve memory. This basically began when I ordered the Mega-Memory program off of a TV ad. Most of those late night infomercials are scams, but this one I assure you was the real deal. The program taught me how to make my already pretty good memory phenomenal and helped me for the rest of my life in school, as well as in other areas of my life. This isn't boasting. Once you learn how memory works - in terms of forming images and connecting symbols - I believe almost anyone can attain a very impressive memory. Even feats such as memorizing the names of 100 items and then recalling which number any given item was - or alternatively being given the number and recalling which item it was - are relatively painless when the memory is used in accordance with how our brains evolved to work. Mnemonics shares this focus on the importance of visualization and the incorporation of our senses in mental processes with neurolinguistic programming.
Luckily, if you don't have the money to shell out for a tape set, there is a book version of Mega-Memory. I highly recommend it if you want to improve your memory.
